Pelican is always on guard against Chort. Photo by Zita Bradley

But his sinister alter-ego is never far away.

The fantastical set by Mark Marcante:
Lobby of the 43rd Street Hotel

Reception desk of the 43rd Street Hotel
The stage left doors set up many farcical entrances.
Doorway into the Hotel, where most of the voices seemed to originate.
Pelican's typwriter and tape recorder
Elevator that Chort entered from.
Downstage right chairs, where Chort devoured his sandwich of Beluga Caviar and hard boiled egg. "Exceptional!"

Developmental Workshop

Early Publicity photo

Publicity photo by Nadia Kitirath. It was taken six weeks before the show's intended opening date in September, 2009. The costume was not yet designed and the set was not yet built, so we faked them.

The September production was postponed but this photo still proved useful. It appeared in an advance article by Jerry Tallmer in The Villager, which appeared the week before the show finally opened in January, 2010. It was also used in the show's postcard (see below).

Publicity photo appeared on postcard for 2010 run.

The 2009 postcard photo was discarded as too severe.
