BIOGRAPHIES OF FUSION THEATRE PRODUCTION OF "ANTIGONE"
Eilin O’Dea (Antigone) is an award winning Irish actress who trained at the prestigious LIR Academy, Trinity College, Dublin and has performed at most venues throughout her native Ireland. Best known for her groundbreaking interpretation of the works of James Joyce, Eilin has been the recipient of numerous Culture Ireland awards that have allowed her bring her work here to the United States. Eilins first performance in New York was at a sold out Symphony Space performance of Joyce’s Molly Bloom which theatre critics have described as “Rich, passionate and compelling” (Irish Theatre Magazine), “Every inch the sensualist Joyce imagined” (Irish Times), “Brilliant” (Sunday Business Post), “O’Dea brought Joyce to life” (Huffington Post). Eilin later performed Edna O’Brien’s Madame Cassandra with co-star Cynthia Nixon at Symphony Space’s award winning Selected Shorts, a performance described by theatre critic/novelist Belinda McKeown as “Staggering”. Eilin will make her US film debut in Beacon Picture’s “Grey Lady” set for theatrical release this Spring, co-starring Natalie Zea, Eric Dane and Amy Madigan. Among her many favorite theatrical roles are Paulina (Death and the Maiden), Hesione Hushabye (Heartbreak House), Inez (No Exit), Maria Lukianovna (The Suicide). Eilin has been honored to have worked alongside multiple award winning Directors Lindsay Posner, Max Stafford Clarke and most recently Olivier award winning Director Jim Culleton with a performance in commemoration of the 1916 Easter Rising. Eilin is also a Soprano, having trained at the Conservatory of Music, Dublin. She has performed both at concert and operatic platforms including as a guest Soprano at St George’s Hall, UK, Mansion House, Dublin, Edgerton Performing Arts, US. Her operatic roles to date include, Helmwige (Die Walkure), Kate Pinkerton (Madama Butterfly) Abigaile (Cover, Nabucco), with Opera Company Brooklyn, Oberto (Alcina) and Sandman/Dew Fairy (Hansel und Gretel) with New York Opera Forum.
Paul Goodwin-Groen (Creon) performed with the Royal Opera House at Covent Garden, the Royal Ballet, London Lyric Opera, Garsington Opera and at the Aldeburgh Festival. In Sydney, he sang with Pacific Opera, Pinchgut Opera, Sydney Chamber Opera, numerous choral societies and the Tasmanian Discovery Orchestra. He has performed at the Macau International Music Festival and in Germany. In New York, he has worked with New York City Opera, the Bronx Opera, Opera Company of Brooklyn, the DiCapo Opera Theatre and appeared in the original cast of Baz Luhrmann’s La Bohème on Broadway. He studied at Manhattan School of Music, the Britten-Pears School of Advanced Musical Studies in the UK, with the Ezio Pinza Foundation in Italy, and holds a M.F.A. in Theatre Arts/Acting from Brandeis University in Boston.
Dave Grant (Haemon) studied acting at the Barrow Group Theatre School and with Patsy Rodenberg at the Michael Howard Studios, both here in New York City. He comes from the UK and recently played Captain Scott in Terra Nova, Iago in Othello, the Duke of Clarence in Richard III and Lawrence Moss in Abigail's party.
Sue-Ellen Mandell (Nurse), a graduate of New York’s High School for the Performing Arts, was a theater major at Hunter College, a speech/language pathologist, and a community and regional theater actress. She has also acted in many regional, off-Broadway productions, and in the New York, Syracuse and Capital Fringe Festivals. Other projects include: independent and student films and several one act play festivals, Television work includes the Home Shopping Network, two episodes of Celebrity Ghost Stories, and episodes on Investigation Discovery and Poisoned Passions. Most recently, she had fun being Hillary Clinton for Kloons' episode on their YouTube channel.
Igby Rigney (Page) has appeared in TV shows such as "Orange Is The New Black" (Netflix), been a special talent for skateboarding on "Billions" (Showtime), appeared in anti-bulling PSA’s, modeled for Polaroid and Vogue Bambini Petite Parade, appeared in Off-Broadway shows such as "Florinda’s Time" and performed with the Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival. Legendary acting coach Larry Moss agreed to an ultra-rare exception and allowed Igby to audit his Master Class in NYC, something for which Igby cannot say thank you enough. This all seems like a lot for a 16 year-old finishing high school a year early, while simultaneously attending Pace University. But Igby somehow still manages to find time to design and build his own skateboards.
Byron Singleton (First Guard) was most recently heard as the Tenor soloist in Haydn's "Lord Nelson Mass" and as the tenor balladeer in Fusion Theater's presentation James Joyce's "The Dead" on Theater Row. Other career highlights include Cavaradossi in Tosca with MORE Opera conducted by Maestro Anton Coppola, the title role in "Les Contes D'Hoffmann" with Vocal Productions NYC. Manrico in Vera Musica Opera's production of "Il Trovatore", Rodolfo in "La Boheme with the Crotan Symphony, Tenor Soloist in Verdi's Requiem, Foresto in Attila with Empire Opera, Riccardo in "Un Ballo in Maschera" at Symphony Space, and Der Steuermann in "Der Fliegende Hollander" with the United Nations Orchestra. He recently made his solo Carnegie Hall debut in a concert featuring the music of Bernstein and Sondheim. He has sung in eleven productions with the chorus at the Metropolitan Opera. Upcoming projects include: "Dichterliebe" Tenor/co-producer with piano and dancer ensemble at the Mile Square Theater in Hoboken, and the Tenor Soloist in Beethoven's Mass in C, Great Neck Choral Society. He studied acting in NYC with Sybil Lines.
Allison Threadgold (Ismene) joined the alumni ranks of the Atlantic Theater School in 2006 where she had the pleasure of tasting David Mamet’s imaginary popcorn as he critiqued her performance of Arkadna in The Seagull. Her screen highlights include Jude in Subprime, Karen, alongside Jay O. Sanders, in Vice and coming soon, the lead in a new short called Seconds. On stage performances in NYC include Beatrice in Much Ado About Nothing, Anna in a touring musical of Pope John Paul II’s The Jeweler’s Shop, and the premiere's of The Summerhouse & George Cameron Grant's Gratitude. West Coast favorites include leading roles in two of Kieron Barry's plays: Anna in Tomorrow in the Battle and the wickedly delightful role of Rachel in Why Are We In Afghanistan. Paulina Yeung (Messenger) graduated from Manhattan School of Music with a Master of Music in Vocal Performance and has won several awards including The American Prize in Vocal Performance 2015: Collegiate Art Song/Oratorio Division, the Phyllis Bryn-Julson Award at the 2014 Civic Morning Musicals Voice Competition, and 3rd place in the 2015 NFMC Women’s Collegiate Voice - NY District. She has performed in various venues across New York including Carnegie Hall, Avery Fisher Hall, Bruno Walter Auditiorium and Steinway Hall. Past credits include Surpanakha/ Soul of Sita in Ramayana: The Story of Diwali, Pamina in Die Zauberflöte, Cendrillon in Cendrillon, Ozia in La Giuditta, Dew Fairy in Hansel and Gretel, Peep-bo in The Mikado, and Cosette in Les Misérables.
Dahlia Barakat (Set Design) graduated in 2003 with a Bachelor’s degree in Set and Costume Design from Cairo, Egypt. She taught Art for two years, and since then has decided to focus all of her efforts into teaching herself, instead, what she loves to do most. She moved to San Diego in 2007, and lived there for almost 3 years. She participated in several local productions and won an award for best set design for Wizard of Oz. She then moved to the Washington DC metro area, where she worked at Hardwood Artisans for 3 years and had the opportunity to work with and design custom hardwood furniture. She spent her last year earning a Certificate in Theatre Studies at Northern Virginia Community College where she got to dabble in more set design and stage management. She now lives in New York City where she is thrilled to be working with Eilin and designing the sets for Fusion Theatre. She hopes to be a part of many more local productions.
